    IHP.138.The Crate.Order

    £300.00

Necessity is the mother of invention. The crate, in some form, is arguably one of the earliest human design projects. Protection, possession and containment.

Nothing reinvented. No unique feature. A simple, open crate precisely worked in French Oak. As sturdy as it is elegant. The only possible dilemma being that something which is usually placed out of view is simply too beautiful not to be seen.

The crate will not be restricted. Mine currently resides in a wardrobe room where it stores my favourite four pairs of vintage, selvedge jeans. The varying shades of antique indigo visible through the slender reveals in the crates construction.

A remarkable feat of such a rudimentary piece of design is the ability to apply an elegance and reason to whatever is placed within. Trust me. I’ve tried.

Muddy potatoes, cleaning products, guest towels, church candles or upright bottles of Sussex Pale Ale. All look appealing and delightful.

Another dilemma being that, once placed inside the crate, there is a reluctance to disturb the assemblage by removing anything.

    Oh well.

Inglis Hall products are handmade to a very high quality, mostly to order, in our Sussex workshops or by our UK partners. This means that some items can take up to 12 weeks to produce and arrive with you. We always endeavour to deliver more quickly whenever we can, and some smaller items and products that are held in stock will arrive much faster.
