    Plan Your Project

    Your journey with Inglis Hall

It starts with a conversation. Some clients come to us with architectural drawings. Others arrive with little more than a sketch, an idea, or simply a feeling that their home could work better. Wherever you are with it, our advice is the same – it is never too early to get in touch.

Six stages, from first idea to finished room

    01 The first conversation

A call, an email, or a visit to the Lewes showroom. We ask about the house, the room, and how you live in it. Nothing is committed at this stage.

    02 Understanding your project

Drawings, measurements, references, appliance preferences, budget, and timescales become your brief. We believe the success of a kitchen is tied to the quality of its brief.

    03 Your design and costing

We design your kitchen and cost it in full, then present it to you at the showroom, at the workshop, or over a video call. This we do free of charge, and with no obligation.

    04 Going ahead

If the design is right, a project letter sets out the next steps and a deposit secures your position in our workshop schedule. Every detail is resolved before anything is made.

    05 In the workshop

Around 500 making hours go into a kitchen, cut, assembled, and finished by our own makers in Sussex. Design, manufacture, and installation stay in the same hands throughout.

06 Installation, and living with it

We fit every kitchen ourselves, which is the only way we can offer a lifetime guarantee. The best kitchens go on evolving as they become part of everyday life.

    What it costs

From £45,000 including VAT for a fully fitted kitchen, inclusive of stone worktops, Fisher & Paykel appliances, sinks, and taps. Most Inglis Hall kitchens average closer to £80,000.

    How long it takes

As dedicated makers with limited capacity in our Sussex workshop, we choose quality and care over volume. Early conversations help us find the right place in our schedule, and give your project the time it needs.

Once your kitchen is made, allow around three weeks on site. We will agree the right moment in your build programme with you and your contractor, so that finished work is not installed before the site is ready for it.

    What to start thinking about

The brief is where a project is really decided. The more you have turned over beforehand, the further a first conversation can go.

    Material considerations

Band-sawn oak is perhaps our signature, raw or blackened, hand-picked as a whole log so that grain and tone flow through a room. Alongside it we work in real wood veneers, Richlite, Fenix, and hand-painted finishes. Timber or paint? Warm or cool? Worth asking what you want to touch every day, and how you would like the room to age.

    Appliances and accessories

Freestanding or integrated? Induction or gas? A boiling water tap, or a kettle on the worktop? Extraction overhead or downdraft, one oven or two, a single deep sink or a double. Each answer shapes a layout more than people expect, so early leanings are useful even if they change later.

    Worktops

Natural stone or quartz? Honed or polished? A slim 20mm edge or a heavier 30mm? And a slab that is boldly veined, or quiet and even. These decisions change the character of a room as much as the cabinetry does, and they are worth seeing in the flesh before you settle.
