Artwave Festival 2026: A Potter Walks into a Kitchen
Artwave Festival is back. More than 170 free exhibitions scattered across Lewes, Seaford, Newhaven, Peacehaven, and the villages in between. Shops, showrooms, studios, front rooms, churches, barns. All open. All free. One of the South East's great art shows, championing local artists and Lewes' thriving creative community.
This year, we're happy to be part of it once again. Hosting Peter Fishley Holland and his fascinating pottery. We'll be opening our doors a little wider, for a little longer, so it's the perfect time to call in.
Clay and Wood. Different Materials. Same Obsession.
Peter Fishley Holland comes from seven generations of potters.
It began in Fremington, North Devon. His great-great-great-grandfather, George Fishley, founded a pottery studio at the turn of the 19th century. His son, Edwin Beer Fishley, shaped the early studio pottery movement with Bernard Leach counting him among his most important influences. Edwin's work now sits in the permanent collection of the V&A.
The thread continued. Peter's grandfather, William Senior, ran Braunton Pottery. A young Michael Cardew, later one of the defining voices of 20th century studio ceramics, learnt to throw there, under his hand.
Seven generations on, Peter carries that same instinct for making into his own pottery studio, now in East Sussex. A lineage of skill, passed from hand to hand.
We recognise that kind of patience.
Ours is a slower craft too, learned over years, passed from one pair of hands to the next in our Sussex workshop.
Different materials, same obsession with doing things properly.
Come and Visit Our Lewes Showroom
Alongside the art, it’s a chance to drop in and meet our design team. We’re usually open by appointment on Saturdays, so this is a rare opportunity to call in have a proper look around our Lewes showroom, ask questions and experience our craft first-hand.
You’ll find us at 29 High Street, in a rather lovely Georgian shop. It’s not vast, but that’s part of its charm: just enough space to create a kitchen that feels real, lived-in and entirely possible to imagine in your own home.
Stay as long as you like. One lucky visitor will even win an Inglis Hall bag. Not just any bag. A gloriously unfussy British-made bag in sturdy waxed cotton. Designed to get better with age, carry an unreasonable amount and look rather good doing it.

Artwave FAQs
Do I need to book?
Not during Artwave. We'll be open on both Saturday 12th and 19th, 10am to 4pm - no need to make an appointment. Tuesday to Friday, you're equally welcome to just call in.
How much does Artwave Festival cost?
Nothing. Artwave is free. Our Showroom is free. The conversation is free.
Can I buy the art?
Yes. You'll be able to purchase Peter's work at our showroom should you wish.

How do I enter the giveaway?
Drop in during the festival dates, download our brochure via the QR code and one lucky visitor will win an Inglis Hall bag. That's it.
