The Pitt Cue's Legendary Newport Sour Recipe

    5.IHP.665.The Drinks Cabinet.Newport Low Res

Our new drinks cabinet is named after Toby's favourite pre-dinner drink, the Newport Sour. But not just any Newport Sour, the legendary Pitt Cue’s life enhancing version.

This more punchy take on a New York Sour gets its added kick from the port. It presents a challenge to those wishing to keep the two layers distinct - it is almost impossible - but then, so long as one has willing drinkers, there'll be no wastage.

    SERVES 1

    Bourbon, 35ml
    Lemon juice, 35ml
    Sugar Syrup, a dash
    Angostura bitters, a dash
Late bottled vintage (LBV) port, 50ml

Shake everything except the port in a Boston shaker with ice, then strain over ice in a tumbler.

Float a couple of centimetres of the port on top by pouring it down a spiral-handled bar spoon. Add two straws.
