I Do Like to be Beside the Seaside is a music hall song written in 1907 by John Glover Kind.

The sentiment of the song makes sense when you live in a spacious upper apartment in a gorgeous Victorian house overlooking the English Channel.

Into this classically English scape we introduce the clients Becky Jones and Sam O’ Donahue who play out their life with a young family and a design agency across Brighton and New York. Children at different schools across different timezones. So far, so complicated.

Obviously. The kitchen, at the top of the building, had to be installed before the staircase. Of course. A fast programme.

Somebody once said “a problem is just a solution in disguise”

Tellingly, nobody actually puts their name to this chestnut of philosophy.

    Then. It all comes together.

A calm, understated and effortlessly stylish kitchen space that belies both the drama of its production and the limits of the architecture.

A cool and quietly confident statement of aesthetic judgement realised in Skimming Stone, Raw Band-Sawn Oak and the timeless grace of Carrara marble.
