The Art of Handmade British Cabinetry

WE PUT THE CRAFT INTO CONTEMPORARY KITCHENS

Drawn from decades of fine cabinet making and traditional timber framing, we bring an authentic level of craft to modern British cabinetry. Designed and made in Lewes, East Sussex. If it carries our name, it carries our standards. We are so confident in the enduring quality of our cupboards, we offer a lifetime guarantee - not as a gimmick, but as a simple reassurance of their longevity.

It has become fashionable to describe a company as makers. So much so that perhaps the word has lost its weight. But not for us. We make in small numbers. On purpose. Around 500 hours go into each project. It is an honest and absolute dedication to craft.

Contemporary kitchens, to us, aren’t simply sleek modern spaces. More often than not, our designs sit somewhere in between. Timeless. For homes old and new, made for modern living, crafted with layers of quality.

Inglis Hall isn’t a typical company. There is no typical customer. There is no typical kitchen.

MATERIALITY MATTERS: BEAUTIFUL TIMBERS AND CONTEMPORARY SURFACES

We are drawn to materials that reveal honesty through use and age gracefully over time. Natural timber, tactile surfaces, exposed grain, softened edges and authentic finishes bring warmth and permanence to contemporary spaces.

We believe materials should not simply look beautiful when installed but continue to develop character through everyday life. Every element - down to the oak- veneered birch ply carcass - is chosen with this in mind.

    BAND-SAWN OAK

Perhaps our signature material. People often seek us out for this alone, no-one does it quite like Inglis Hall. Raw and blackened band-sawn oak – a material defined by depth and character.

We personally hand-pick, often a whole log, a ‘boule’, from our friends at English Woodlands Timber. The beauty of buying timber in this way is that every board is related, sister and brother, so grain and tone flow seamlessly.

    REAL WOOD VENEER

Our collection of premium real wood veneers combines the soul and warmth of natural timber with the stability and precision of veneered construction. From rustic oak and rich walnut to characterful Douglas fir, each veneer is available in a range of finishes and tints to achieve a range of kitchen styles.

    FENIX & RICHLITE

Alongside timber, we work with contemporary materials chosen for their tactile quality, durability and understated beauty. Richlite offers something unexpected - remarkably hard- wearing, made from recycled paper, with a soft, almost leather- like feel. Fenix provides a broader spectrum of colour, paired with an ultra-matt, soft-touch surface that resists fingerprints and wear.

Both offer a refined and durable alternative to painted finishes, though we are equally happy to incorporate hand-painted furniture when desired.

    AN IDEA OF KITCHEN COSTS

We believe it’s far more helpful to understand the likely investment for a complete project rather than a cabinetry-only “starting from” figure. As a guide, smaller local kitchens usually start around £45,000 including worktops, appliances and installation, with most Inglis Hall kitchens averaging closer to £80,000.

Every project is different, of course, shaped by scale, detail and material choices. We’re always happy to offer early guidance around budget.

    BESPOKE JOINERY AND ARCHITECTURAL INTERIORS

Our expertise naturally extends beyond the kitchen into boot rooms, utilities, bathrooms, wardrobes and more. Most often as part of a wider whole-house renovation, but at times as standalone projects.

We often work alongside architects and designers. Our role is shaped by collaboration from the moment we’re brought in. We are not just makers at the end of a process. We are creative partners at the table from the very start.

Designing with the architecture means embracing its quirks rather than working against them. We often build bulky storage into false chimneys, using depth cleverly so it reads as lighter and less imposing. Structural beams and awkward details are incorporated with precision, becoming part of the design rather than a constraint.

It is about absorbing the character of the house and the people in it, creating a space that feels so natural, it’s as if it’s always been there. A chance to showcase our exceptional craftsmanship.

Our signature panelling allows us to take this one step further, blending kitchen and architecture. Storage is hidden, appliances are absorbed, and what remains is a calm continuity - where the kitchen becomes imperceptible within the architectural cladding.

"We were looking for a kitchen that combined modern design with the craftsmanship of traditional, authentic materials - not synthetic or artificial ones. With many kitchens, you open a door, and it feels flimsy. That’s not the case with Inglis Hall. Their kitchens are solid, with a tangible quality and weight that speaks to their exceptional look, feel, and durability."
